We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.In the Department of Radiation Oncology, the advanced practice provider (APP) can expect to have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the radiation oncology physicians, while also practicing independently within the Cancer Centers. While the APP can expect a relatively predictable work schedule planned whenever possible, scheduling variations may occur to cover clinical needs as they become apparent to the department/division/clinic.

Requirements and responsibilities for the APP in radiation oncology specific to this role include the following:

Preferred experience in oncology, preference given to pediatric oncology, within the past 5 years

Neuro-oncology experience beneficial.

PALS certification encouraged

Primary role supporting pediatric and central nervous system radiation oncology service providing time-intensive, expert supportive care to patients from referral to follow up.

Secondary clinical role in general radiation oncology follow up care is expected.

Assist in navigating patients and their families through the course of radiation therapy from consultation to readying for treatment and completion of care.

Independently manage the supportive care and urgent patient needs that occur during treatment and in the immediate weeks after treatment and report to the supervising physician.

Review and manage patient communications using EPIC InBasket

Prescribe pre-and post-treatment medications following physician consultation or in collaboration and subsequently instructing patients and families regarding medications

Evaluate and care for patients who are undergoing treatment concerning the acute and chronic effects from radiation therapy and review patient cases with supervising physician as appropriate

Coordinate new patient education and assist with new patient consults as needed.

Support radiation oncology department via participation in APP coverage model and general clinic support as needed

Must have a strong foundation in evaluating evidence-based care publications and applying this knowledge to patient care.

Assisting physicians with radiation delivery procedures as needed

Recognizing situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and executing appropriately.**Job Summary**The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions: Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.

-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.

-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.

-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.

-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.

-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
