Physician Assistant - Vascular Service role at Catholic Health. Vascular Surgery Team (collaborating with Dr. Koullias and fellow vascular specialists). Position Overview
Serve as a pivotal member of the vascular surgery team—providing both clinical and operative support in close partnership with vascular surgeons like Dr.Koullias. This role exists at the intersection of patient care, surgical assistance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities
Patient Evaluation & Management: Conduct comprehensive assessments including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic interpretation. Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with Dr.Koullias and team. Surgical Assistance: First-assist in both open and endovascular vascular surgeries; prepare patients, maintain sterile technique, and support surgical procedures. Pre- & Post-Operative Care: Manage patient education, consent and surgical prep; oversee post-op recovery, monitor for complications, and guide rehabilitation. Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, radiologists, and anesthesiologists; communicate effectively with patients and families regarding vascular conditions and treatment plans. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate surgical notes, progress reports, and treatment documentation; adhere to regulatory and organizational standards. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited PA program. Licensed PA in New York State with NCCPA certification (PA‑C). BLS and ACLS (and AED) certification through AHA (no online certification accepted). DEA registration required if managing discharges or prescribing medications. Vascular surgery experience preferred; however, new graduates with relevant electives or clinical experience will be considered. Ideal Candidate Profile
Proactive, patient-focused PA with strong clinical judgment in vascular care. Skilled in both first-assist surgical settings and perioperative patient management.
