Physician (Staff Anesthesiologist) Providence VA Medical Center, Providence, Rhode Island The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Providence Healthcare System, provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, oncology, prescriptions, treatment for PTSD, dermatology, treatment for alcohol and drug abuse, and more. Responsibilities

Providing comprehensive Anesthesia services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency conditions. Providing peri-operative care including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic administration, and monitoring of post-anesthesia care in compliance with national accreditation standards; participates in Ward/ICU/Hospital rounds for surgical patients and other relevant activities. Providing expert consultation and guidance to CRNA, Nursing, and other medical staff in the administration of the Anesthesia programs. Involvement with clinical care, bedside, and didactic teaching of residents, in consultation and collaboration with a wide variety of surgeons and other specialists; educating Residents and Students in the principles and therapy of basic and complex Anesthesia cases; including lecture. Documenting services through appropriate notes, such as History and Physical and Anesthesia Consultation notes. Providing Morbidity and Mortality information and documentation as needed. Fostering a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. Requirements

US citizenship (while open to U.S. Citizens, non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens) MD or DO Full active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. $370,000 - $400,000 per year. Paid Time Off:

This position is eligible for the EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
