Overview
Geisinger, one of the premier tertiary medical systems on the east coast, is recruiting an OB Laborists/Hospitalist to join the team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical (GWV) Center, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will be seasoned, a great team player, have experience working with midwives and enjoy co-managing with them. Opportunities exist to work with medical students and residents. In this role you will focus on inpatient care for pregnant women and manage labor and delivery on both an emergency and routine basis. GWV handles roughly 1,900 deliveries per year. Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is an acute care hospital licensed for 274 beds and houses the only Level II trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Henry Cancer Center, the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, and the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital NICU and transplant program. Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is GWV’s ambulatory campus. Geisinger serves more than 3 million residents across central, south-central and northeast Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities
Provide inpatient obstetric care and manage labor and delivery on both emergency and routine bases. Collaborate with midwives and participate in co-management of care. Engage in teaching opportunities with medical students and residents. Contribute to hospital programs and quality initiatives as part of a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) – required. Licensure: Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Pennsylvania. Benefits & Culture
