Family Medicine Physician - Academics - Program Director Job with Ballad Health in Norton, VA
Ballad Health Medical Associates is seeking a Program Director to lead the next generation of Family Medicine Physicians at the Lonesome Pine Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Norton, Virginia. The Program Director must have accountability for: Administration and operations Teaching and scholarly activity Resident recruitment and selection Evaluation and promotion of residents Disciplinary actions Supervision of residents Resident education in patient care Qualified candidates must have: Specialty expertise and at least three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience Current certification by the ABFM or AOBFM, medical licensure, and eligibility for appropriate medical staff appointment Ongoing clinical activity Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary, interprofessional team to create an educational environment that promotes high-quality care, patient safety, and resident well-being Responsibilities include: Being a role model of professionalism Reporting accurate and complete information as required by the DIO, GMEC, and ACGME Participating in academic societies and educational programs to enhance skills Engaging in curriculum development, resident teaching and evaluation, program improvement, and faculty development Designing and conducting the program aligned with community needs and institutional missions Promoting a learning environment that covers ACGME competencies Developing and overseeing faculty evaluation processes Evaluating and addressing supervision and learning environment issues Fostering a supportive environment for resident feedback and concerns Ensuring compliance with institutional policies on grievances, due process, employment, and non-discrimination Dedication of at least 20 hours per week to administrative and educational activities with institutional support Supervising and delegating responsibilities to faculty Community Details: Beautiful location and small-town living Easy commute to larger cities Moderately sized airport nearby Safe, family-friendly community with excellent schools Low cost of living and mild weather with four seasons Abundant outdoor activities Within driving distance of Tri-Cities, Asheville, and Sevierville/Pigeon Forge About Ballad Health: Ballad Health is a 21-hospital system serving a 29-county area, including tertiary facilities, community hospitals, cancer centers, urgent care, primary care, and specialty offices, with over 800 physicians and advanced practitioners.
