To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties
Provide a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessment and psychotherapeutic techniques. Perform psychiatric evaluations for diverse patient populations, including veterans with psychosocial issues. Offer therapeutic interventions such as diagnostic assessment, medication management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and care for psychiatric disorders. Serve as a mental health team leader, coordinating consults and referrals. Participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Order diagnostic tests and consultations, making appropriate treatment decisions. Ensure practice compliance with relevant policies, guidelines, and regulations. Participate in supervision and teaching, including support for psychiatric residency programs. Engage in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives. Provide leadership, guidance, and consultation to staff and trainees. Complete clinical documentation timely and accurately. Plan and oversee research programs related to psychiatric practice. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
