To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
US Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable. Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the US. Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Enrolled residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a limited basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements: must be physically and mentally able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties
Provide a full range of psychiatric services including assessment, psychotherapy, medication management, and crisis intervention. Perform psychiatric evaluations for diverse patient populations. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning. Order diagnostic tests and consultations, ensuring compliance with all policies and standards. Participate in supervision, teaching, and research activities. Contribute to performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives. Provide leadership and consultation to staff and trainees. Complete all documentation timely and accurately. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. On-call rotation required for urgent care coverage, with shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on a monthly basis.
