Overview:
The successful candidate will join a team of pediatric endocrinologists, endocrine nurses, nutritionists, and a mental health professional in an expanding service. The position involves oversight of division operations, including clinical, teaching, and research activities. The candidate will participate in ambulatory clinical services, inpatient consult services, and the teaching and supervision of medical students and residents at Boston Medical Center, the major teaching affiliate of Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. There is an opportunity for expanded collaboration with the Internal Medicine Endocrinology Division to refine a Pediatric-to-Adult Transition Clinic, as well as clinical supervision of internal medicine endocrinology fellows.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified candidate to lead the expansion of patient care, teaching, and clinical research missions related to endocrinology, diabetes, and weight management in the Department of Pediatrics. Our division offers a comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes Program, a multidisciplinary Type 2 Diabetes Program, and an Adolescent Transgender Program. There is close collaboration with Pediatric and Adult GI and Nutrition around weight management services, including bariatric surgery. Strong leadership, clinical skills, and an interest in practicing in an academic urban environment are required. BMC serves a large urban population with complex medical and social factors influencing health outcomes—candidates must be interested in working with our diverse population as part of a comprehensive care team.
Department Overview:
The Department of Pediatrics has 110 faculty and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialty care. The Division of Endocrinology currently includes 2 faculty members, contracted physicians, and a multidisciplinary clinical team. The Endocrinology Division works closely with colleagues in primary care and other specialties to provide coordinated, comprehensive care and wrap-around services. The Pediatric Department is a center of excellence for pediatric care in an urban setting, with over 65,000 ambulatory visits annually. Boston University Medical Campus comprises Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. The hospital is located in Boston's Historic South End District, serving a large urban population with a strong community health network.
Compensation:
Boston University School of Medicine offers a competitive salary commensurate with academic training and practice experience.
