Description The faculty physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational, and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership.
Qualifications Minimum Education Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school (Required)
Minimum Work Experience 0 years (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards. Ability to evaluate patient problems independently, develop care plans, incorporate ethical concepts, supervise professionals and students, and maintain standards of quality and safety. Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and legal/ethical standards.
Required Licenses and Certifications Licensed and credentialed physician at Children’s National Medical Center, board certified or eligible, with secondary specialty certification preferred.

Provide clinical services ethically, professionally, and timely.
Oversee medical care teams, manage patient care, and improve continuity and communication.
Participate in on-call services and family-centered care.
Communicate effectively with team members and outside providers.
Commitment to Advocacy
Advance public policy for pediatric health.
Educate patients and families on health topics.
Participate in health promotion and prevention programs.
Commitment to Research
Conduct relevant research and publish findings.
Review manuscripts and seek research funding.
Engage in research committees and interest groups.
Commitment to Education
Participate in medical education programs and supervise trainees.
Contribute to hospital and national educational efforts.
Commitment to Quality & Compliance
Follow policies, complete documentation, and participate in quality improvement.
Identify and recommend improvements, and participate in policy development.
