Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be responsible for coordinating specialty care in an outpatient setting. The incumbent shall assess, diagnose, and develop a care plan for patients with gastrointestinal illnesses in collaboration with the gastroenterologist and will be part of the academic care team. Competency in performing diagnostic tests is expected; training will be provided.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required (NYS NP specialty certification must align with practice).
Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
Eligibility criteria for NP include National Certification through AANP or ANCC, and a Master's Degree.
Eligibility criteria for PA include graduation from an accredited PA program and National Certification through NCCPA.
Initial certification must be present or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of previous NP or PA experience, preferably in outpatient gastroenterology practice.
Work Days: Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
