Infectious Disease Physician - Mountain Home VAMC
This position is for an Infectious Disease Physician who will serve as a member and advisor of the Infection Control Program at Mountain Home VAMC. The role is 80% clinical and 20% administrative, providing inpatient and outpatient consultation services. The physician will report to the Section Chief of Infectious Diseases, Chief of Medicine Service, and Chief of Staff.

Primary Duties:
Diagnose and treat adult patients with infectious diseases such as resistant infections, travel-related illnesses, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, Lyme disease, and Hepatitis B and C.
Provide outpatient treatment and inpatient consultation services as needed.
Perform physical examinations, review medical data, and order diagnostic tests and imaging when indicated.
Document observations, assessments, and changes in patient conditions; collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure positive outcomes.
Work collaboratively with other specialties.
Follow VA directives and policies; maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Use computer skills to access and input data into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
Maintain full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S. and current registration.
Provide outpatient services at Mountain Home VA Medical Center and affiliated clinics in Johnson City, TN.
Supervise advance practice nurses, physician assistants, and other staff as appropriate.
Establish professional relationships with other clinical providers; provide telephone and electronic consultations.
Participate in quality of care initiatives, peer reviews, and performance improvement activities.
Attend staff meetings, grand rounds, and mandatory training; comply with continuing medical education requirements.
Meet VA metrics and performance measures, including SAIL metrics.
