Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for a HCPC Registered Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to work as part of the SOLAR Service at HMP North Sea Camp. The SOLAR service is part of the OPD (Offender Personality Disorder) Pathway in open prisons, supporting individuals who may have difficulties transitioning from closed to open conditions due to personality traits. Job responsibilities
The successful post-holder will jointly provide clinical leadership for a team approach to supporting individuals to manage the transition to open conditions where personality traits and related emotional/behavioural instability may interfere with the transition. They will: Identify and assess individuals’ suitability for the service following a screening process and support officers to engage individuals in keywork. Support the development of survival plans/formulations and the psychologically informed management of anticipated hurdles. Provide supervision and consultancy to the team and other prison departments (Offender Management Unit, Security, Safer Custody) to develop skills and confidence in working with SOLAR-engaging individuals. Contribute to the development of the SOLAR service and deliver the PERS model for individuals with trauma histories and personality traits likely to struggle in open conditions. Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary team discussions and decision-making processes. Engage in own supervision and reflective practice and support team members in supervision and reflective practice. Work with the Custodial Manager and Head of Function to produce outcome data, audits and evaluations and liaise with commissioners for performance reviews; promote psychologically informed practices within the prison environment. Collaborate with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and other OPD pathway clinical leads across Nottinghamshire Healthcare. Liaise with the wider OPD pathway team at regional levels. Essential: Post-qualification specialist training in forensic/clinical/counselling practice; case formulation training. Desirable: Further specialist training in mental health, personality disorder, risk assessment/ management, Schema Therapy, EMDR, DBT, RO-DBT. Experience
Essential: Relevant experience in clinical/forensic/counselling psychology practice; service evaluation and research; experience providing clinical supervision and reflective practice. Desirable: Experience with offending and complex trauma histories; use of specialist treatments (e.g., EMDR, Schema therapy). Knowledge
Essential: Specialist knowledge of assessment, management and treatment models for Personality Disorder and complex trauma; awareness of criminal justice processes and secure environments; service evaluation and data analysis. Desirable: Publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Skills
