Job Description - Rheumatologist (2500013M) Job Description The faculty physician is responsible for patient care in hospital and clinics, as well as engaging in research, education, and advocacy initiatives as directed by the Division Chief and/or Center leadership. Qualifications Minimum Education Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from an accredited medical school (Required) Minimum Work Experience 0 years (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise. Understanding of legal and ethical standards for medical care. Ability to independently evaluate patient problems and develop care plans. Ability to incorporate ethical considerations into patient care and discuss these with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Supervision, advice, and training skills for clinical professionals and students. Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and infection control standards. Continuous medical education to stay current in subspecialty developments. Legal and ethical compliance in medical practice. Required Licenses and Certifications Full licensure and credentialing as an attending physician at Children’s National Medical Center (Required) Board certification or eligibility in primary practice specialty (Required) Board certification in secondary specialty (Preferred) Functional Accountabilities Commitment to World Class Care Provide ethical, professional, and timely clinical services at Children’s Hospital and other approved sites. Oversee medical care teams, manage patient care, and improve continuity, customer service, and community partnerships. Participate in on-call services as scheduled. Respond promptly and respectfully to team and external provider communications, set clear expectations for trainees, and foster questions and learning. Provide timely feedback and ensure proper orientation for trainees. Supervise clinical professionals and students effectively. Identify service problems, recommend improvements, and participate in policy development. Review protocols, evaluate patient care, and participate in peer evaluations and error reporting.
