Executive Director
– Brooklyn Community Services Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization at a pivotal moment in its history. With nearly 160 years of service, BCS works to address poverty, advance equity, and provide a wide range of social services across Brooklyn. The ED will partner with the Board, staff, and community partners to ensure long-term sustainability, raise visibility, and strengthen program delivery to meet evolving community needs. Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership : Partner with the Board to set organizational direction, ensure program alignment, and drive the three-year strategic plan; provide steady leadership during transitions. Executive Team & Operations : Build and lead a high-performing executive team; oversee operations, compliance, and continuous improvement; ensure financial sustainability and sound fiscal management. Programs & Impact : Ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant services; evaluate programs and scale or sunset initiatives as appropriate; lead capital and housing initiatives including redevelopment projects. External Relations & Fundraising : Serve as chief spokesperson, strengthen relationships with government, funders, and community leaders; collaborate with the development team on fundraising. Board Governance : Act as primary liaison to the Board; support governance, recruitment, and engagement. Experience & Qualifications
At least 10 years of senior executive leadership experience, ideally as an Executive Director or senior leader of a large nonprofit, government, or advocacy organization. Experience overseeing finances, budgets, and operations in large, complex organizations. Proven fundraising and resource development experience with diverse funding sources (donors, foundations, corporations, government contracts). Experience leading large teams and building strong executive capability. Background in human services, housing development, education, youth development, or related fields preferred. Master’s degree in a relevant field (MPA, MSW, MBA, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Leadership Qualities
