Summary

The South Texas VA Health Care System is seeking a Primary Care Physician (Float) to provide primary care services supporting operations within the San Antonio area. This position offers support to the Patient Aligned Care Team at an assigned clinic and may be detailed to other clinics based on staffing and workload. A recruitment/relocation incentive may be available for highly qualified candidates. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited school. Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. or its territories. Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Includes moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, and visual and hearing capabilities. Duties

The Primary Care Provider (PCP) Float will support primary care operations in the San Antonio area, providing coverage for Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) at assigned clinics and other VA clinics as needed. Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive primary care, managing acute and chronic illnesses, mental health screening and treatment, preventative care, and coordinating specialty care when necessary. The role involves working within the PACT model, which emphasizes team-based, continuous, and coordinated care involving multiple healthcare professionals. Additional duties may include managing specific patient subgroups, supervising mid-level providers, and participating in special projects.
