Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: US Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved medical school Current unrestricted medical or surgery license in the US or District of Columbia Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis Proficiency in spoken and written English Preferred: Board Certification in Family Medicine (ABFM) or Internal Medicine (ABIM) Experience including volunteer work is valued; all qualifying experience is credited Physical ability to meet the needs of patients and support the Medical Center's missions Duties

Provide outpatient patient care at the VA Manchester Healthcare System and CBOCs Work under the supervision of the Chief of Primary Care Participate in interdisciplinary team activities and quality improvement initiatives Evaluate patients, document in medical records, and coordinate care with other providers Engage in teaching, committee participation, and continuous education Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities Foster positive relationships with staff and Veterans Perform other duties as assigned, including chart reviews and participation in hospital programs
