Overview The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System's Surgical Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Neurosurgeon Chief. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.

Duties This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay:

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off:

50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement:

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance:

Licensure:

1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Responsibilities The Chief of Neurosurgery is responsible for supervisory and programmatic oversight for the NF/SGVHS Surgical Care Service at two Medical Centers. The Chief of Neurosurgery functions as the primary advisor to the Chief of Operative Care Service Line and the Chief of Staff on all NF/SGVHS Neurosurgery Programs. The Chief of Neurosurgery is expected to have the skill set to interact with the section staff, other Section Chiefs/Service Chief/Chief Medical Officers, and the System's Executive Leadership Team to promote excellence in an academic environment.
