Overview

The Department of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks applicants for a fellowship trained pediatric otolaryngologist at the all levels to join our growing and dynamic academic faculty. Academic appointments will be commensurate with experience. The health system includes several busy neonatal intensive care units, pediatric intensive care units, outpatient clinics, surgery centers and operating room facilities. There is opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary clinics, including craniofacial, aerodigestive, and vascular anomalies, as well as hospital-based pediatric programs. The UCLA Health System and Mattel Children\'s Hospital UCLA have a tertiary/quaternary presence and provide a diverse experience, with the full breadth of pediatric otolaryngologic care, with a special interest in building an internationally acclaimed Pediatric Airway program. Clinical, translational and/or basic science research and dedication to education are prerequisites. The individual will have the opportunity to participate in both resident and medical student education.

Responsibilities

Develop and sustain a productive research program with emphasis on clinical, translational, and/or basic science inquiry. Apply for extramural funding and compete for external research grants. Engage in teaching and clinical duties, including education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Provide state-of-the-art, patient-centered care across the spectrum of pediatric otolaryngology. Participate in clinical activities at UCLA facilities and, as needed, at satellite sites. Contribute to multidisciplinary clinics (e.g., craniofacial, aerodigestive, vascular anomalies) and hospital-based pediatric programs. Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion among faculty, staff, and trainees.

Qualifications

Medical Doctor (M.D.) or equivalent; board certified/eligible in Otolaryngology. Completed accredited residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and completed accredited fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology. Eligible for California medical license. Proven excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Ability and enthusiasm for engaging in academically productive scientific inquiry and education of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The department is dedicated to delivering comprehensive pediatric otolaryngology care within UCLA Health System and Mattel Children\'s Hospital UCLA, with opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary and hospital-based programs and a focus on pediatric airway care.
