The Application Fraud data science team builds machine learning models that protect our customers and Capital One against fraudsters. We prevent fraud at the application stage using real-time models and emphasize doing things the right way, automation, and innovation to improve the customer experience. Role Description

In this role, you will: Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights within large volumes of numeric and textual data Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals The Ideal Candidate is:

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following with an expectation that the degree will be obtained by the start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 5 years of data analytics experience A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (or MBA with a quantitative concentration) plus 3 years of data analytics experience A PhD in a quantitative field Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in STEM plus 3 years of data analytics experience, or PhD in STEM At least 1 year of experience with AWS At least 3 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R At least 3 years of experience with machine learning At least 3 years of experience with SQL Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work within one of these locations and may vary by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. Chicago, IL: $144,200 - $164,600 for Principal Associate, Data Science McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 for Principal Associate, Data Science New York, NY: $173,000 - $197,400 for Principal Associate, Data Science Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600 for Principal Associate, Data Science Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location, and the actual annualized salary will be reflected in the offer letter. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
