Med/Surg Telemetry RN Details
Location: Washington, DC 20007
Healthcare Setting: 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage Unit, Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
Hours per Week: 36
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Charting System: Cerner EMR
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1590-$1710
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience (strong candidates with 1.5+ years considered)
Active DC Registered Nurse license (pending accepted with proof; must have in hand before start date)
BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Two supervisor references required
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
First-time travel nurses welcome
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients recovering from complex surgical procedures, including reconstructive plastic surgery and diabetic limb salvage
Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and deliver comprehensive medical-surgical care
Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, wound care (including wound VAC), and manage surgical drains and peripheral nerve block catheters
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team including nurse practitioners, physicians, physical therapists, and pharmacists
Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR and ensure medication safety with Pyxis
Float to similar units as required and participate in ongoing education and orientation modules
