Medical Technologist role at

Responsibilities
Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing and reporting of results.
Perform moderately difficult to complex tasks and assigned analytical testing procedures in an accurate, precise, and timely manner.
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
Review and release test results; follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies; document quality control activities, calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Follow procedures when test systems are not within the established acceptable performance levels; identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and notify the senior technologist or supervisor as needed.
Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications; report STAT or Critical results to clients per department procedures.
Answer questions from customers or other lab personnel if applicable; maintain complete records of all on-site testing and the department’s general appearance.
Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and, if applicable, opened dates; review and train on new procedures; attend monthly department and training meetings.
Participate in safety training sessions and know the location/content of the safety manual and safety equipment; participate in government or regulatory inspections if needed; perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: BS in Medical Technology; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (as published).
Work Experience: 1 year of clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred; minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
Other: Ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously; must interact with other departments and maintain patient confidentiality; good customer service skills may be required.
Shift/Time Zone: 12a-8:30a, Tuesday-Saturday (third shift EST).
