Position description and responsibilities for a faculty role within the Department of Psychiatry, with clinical, teaching, and scholarly duties in a community-based teaching program.

Position Description The TTUHSC at Amarillo Department of Psychiatry is an innovative community-based teaching program. The Department treats children to geriatric patients with varying psychiatric diagnoses and partners with community facilities to provide services. This provides faculty with clinical experiences across multiple psychiatric diagnoses, exposure to rural patients with chronic mental illness, and substantial patient interactions. Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

Conduct psychiatric examinations, diagnose and treat mental conditions, prescribe treatment, and participate in the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans.

Provide Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry services in the community hospitals.

Train and mentor medical students and residents.

Required Qualifications

MD, DO, or MBBS degree.

Completion of, or in process of completing, a psychiatry residency.

Board eligible, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible, in psychiatry.
