Summary This Supervisory Dentist - Prosthodontics is a licensed independent practitioner that practices following the specific approved facility privileges, and guidance derived from the Veterans Health Administration, the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, and the Service Directives / Memorandums. All dentists are supervised by Section / Team Leader per assignment, and the Chief of Service. Duties and Responsibilities

Perform oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity. Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions. Administer local anesthesia. Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth. Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth. Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures. Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, and fixed bridgework. Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth. Perform routine and surgical periodontal procedures. Provide supervision of dental staff assigned to their clinic location. Responsible for clinic administration in compliance with VHA, Medical Center, and Dental Service Directives, Policies, and Procedures. Assist the dental service chief in everyday activities and requirements of dental service. Ensure all the clinical provider's evaluations are completed timely. FPPE / OPPE are up to date. Ensure all performance evaluations are completed on time. Review all consults and ensure they are scheduled promptly. Run the reports required to monitor clinical activities. Work Schedule

Dentist Basic Requirement A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine from an approved school as described, with licensure in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia; or equivalent licensure as required. Must maintain current registration if required for continuing licensure. Completed, or currently completing, a residency in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience treating medically compromised patients. Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience : Prosthodontics; Board Certified / eligible Prosthodontist. This position may require periods of walking, standing, and sitting; some light lifting, reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and work in front of a computer. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, and able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Work Environment

Majority of work is performed in a health care setting with adequate lighting, heating and cooling. Work may involve exposure to infection and possible contagious diseases. Standard precautions and isolation techniques will be employed as indicated. There may be occasion where response to physical and/or verbal abuse by patients requires knowledge gained from ongoing violence in the workplace training. Education

Note : Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment. Foreign education requires a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript. Additional Information
