is currently recruiting for a

Chief Medical Director (Medical Director II) . The primary purpose of this position is to direct all medical and psychiatric services, having overall authority and responsibility for the quality of care at Broughton Hospital. Job duties include but are not limited to: Serve as a member of the Hospital Executive Team. Responsible for clinical leadership, planning, and organization of clinical care. Supervises the Deputy Chief Medical Officer and the Director of Medical Services. Represents the hospital in clinical meetings involving NCDHHS, the Division of State-Operated Healthcare Facilities, and community-based services as needed. Works collaboratively with the hospital Chief Executive Officer to evaluate the delivery of clinical services. Specifically, high-risk events and activities are managed and monitored to optimize positive outcomes through the collection of information and consultation with clinical staff. Provides clinical consultation and oversight on difficult and/or complex psychiatric/medical cases. Responsible for ensuring clinical case conferences and risk assessment meetings occur when indicated. Develops, updates, and implements all hospital clinical policies. Works closely with the quality risk management and compliance chief to help ensure that all guidelines, policies, and procedures are adhered to regarding accreditation from Joint Commission and CMS. Work averages 40 hours per week and typically occurs within an 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. framework, with some flexibility as clinical needs may warrant. Supervisory, clinical, and administrative responsibilities require the Medical Director II to be available by phone, as needed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and from time to time may require presence during 2nd and 3rd shifts and on weekends. Qualified Candidates Must Document On The Application That They Clearly Possess All Of The Following: Knowledge of inpatient psychiatry, knowledge of the theories and general practices of medicine. Knowledge of biological, social, and psychological developmental processes at all ages; a sound identity with and training in medicine and psychiatry; demonstrated clinical, supervisory, and leadership abilities. The ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and integrate care is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge of current professional literature; assessment instruments; professional standards of practice; federal and state laws and regulations affecting practice, including the NC licensing law; state laws and rules regarding patient rights and confidentiality; facility, Medical Staff, and unit policies and procedures; and other information as necessary. Knowledge of planning, budgeting, and policy-making processes. Able to coordinate with other Broughton Hospital senior staff (Executive Staff), other hospital Chief Medical Officers (Clinical Directors), and Division of State-Operated Healthcare Facilities staff. Management Preferences

Prefer a psychiatrist with experience in a state-operated inpatient psychiatric facility. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina, with four years of experience, including three years in health services delivery management. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
