The Surgical Inventory Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination, procurement, and documentation of surgical implants at UCSF's St. Mary\'s and St. Francis Operating Rooms. This position ensures all implants—owned, consigned, and loaned—are available to meet surgical needs. Working closely with Clinical Service Coordinators, vendors, and the broader PERIOP implant team, the Implant Coordinator maintains regulatory compliance and patient billing accuracy while fostering a collaborative and high-quality service environment. This position operates under general direction and handles complex procurement needs where decisions must be made based on surgical schedules and clinical urgency. Strong knowledge of tissue procurement standards, OR operations, and vendor coordination is essential. Key Responsibilities: Acquire and manage surgical implants using approved UCSF inventory and procurement practices Review surgical schedules and coordinate with Clinical Service Coordinators and vendors for implant needs Oversee procurement, receipt, storage, and documentation of all implant materials Maintain accurate implant inventory through reconciliation, cycle counts, and returns Ensure timely and accurate patient billing for implant usage Communicate regularly with vendors and POD Managers Support UCSF's product recall and product introduction policies Maintain technical knowledge of implant products and documentation standards The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Experience (3+ years) in materials management, operating room operations, purchasing, or accounting Knowledge of procurement needs of healthcare departments Familiarity with aseptic techniques and hospital inventory procedures Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Proven conflict resolution and time management skills Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment Preferred Qualifications
