NICU RN Job Details

• Location: Omaha, Nebraska 68114
• Healthcare Setting: Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (locum tenens)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Nursing Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2020 - $2070
• Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:3
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
  
  

NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience in a hospital setting
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Nebraska or compact state
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred
• Ability to float to PICU, CCU, or med-surg units as needed
  
  

NICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality clinical care to neonates and infants with complex surgical and medical needs in a Level 4 NICU
• Manage patients with diagnoses including PPHN, NEC, BPD, tracheostomy/g-button evaluations, pre-op cardiac anomalies, gastroschisis, hydrocephalus, and more
• Administer blood products, manage central lines, chest tubes, and ventilators
• Perform developmental care, medication dosage calculations, and provide patient/family education
• Float to other pediatric or critical care units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic
• Participate in pre- and post-operative care and conscious sedation procedures
