Senior Accountant
Role Description
Reporting to the Briefly Legal Support ("Briefly") Controller, the Senior Accountant will serve as the right-hand support to the Controller to support all things Briefly-accounting related. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate accounting entries, compliance with regulations, and contributing data and analysis to financial decision-making. Must have a working knowledge of general ledger accounts, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidated financial statements. Must have experience with annual external financial audit.
What you'll do:
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records, prepare journal entries and oversee month-end closing.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and cash flow projections
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide insightful variance analysis and explanations for financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in coordinating external annual audits and income tax preparation by providing necessary documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Streamline financial reporting processes to meet evolving business needs.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide recommendations for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
- Four years' experience and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Intermediate level understanding of current US GAAP accounting
- CPA certification preferred.
- 2-4 years public accounting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software strongly preferred.
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Work experience in professional or legal services industry is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks assigned, while ensuring the accuracy of work and completion within designated deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
