14202 - Senior Database Developer (onsite) - Austin, TX

Required: • Availability to work 2 days per week at the Client's site in
Austin, TX
(required); • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining advanced MS Access databases, including normalized table structures, sophisticated queries for data extraction and manipulation, intuitive data entry forms, and comprehensive rpts (10+ years); • Experience in expert-level relational database design, normalization, ER modeling, schema refactoring, and translating Access data models into scalable SQL schemas (10+ years); • Experience with Microsoft Access, including table design, complex queries, forms, reports, and Skilled in leveraging VBA for custom functionalities and workflow automation (10+ years); • Experience migrating legacy databases into at least one major cloud SQL service (Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server/MySQL) (10+ years); • Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or equivalent (8+ years); • Experience creating migration runbooks, data dictionaries, technical documentation, and delivering training or knowledge-transfer sessions (8+ years); • Experience with RDBMS admin/console tools such as TOAD, SSMS, and/or SQL Developer (8+ years); • Experience configuring data integration and batch processing solutions in Azure Data Factory and/or SSIS; monitoring data ingestion processes and performance; reviewing query plans and identifying problem areas in execution plans (8+ years); • Experience migrating data from legacy databases to new target databases (8+ years).
Preferred: • Experience with CI/CD methodology, GitHub, and JIRA (6+ years); • Experience with data visualization/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau (6+ years); • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (6+ years); • Experience in healthcare or Public Health (3+ years); • Experience implementing and using agile methodologies and best practices for 1 or more State of Texas Agencies (3+ years).
Responsibilities: • Analyze existing data structures in legacy MS Access databases and design schema transformations for migration to modern SQL platforms; • Develop and execute ETL pipelines, validation checks, and cut-over plans for seamless data transition; • Guide stakeholders through the migration process and provide technical support during implementation; • Optimize database performance by monitoring ingestion processes, reviewing query plans, and resolving execution issues; • Create and maintain technical documentation, including migration runbooks and data dictionaries; • Deliver training or knowledge-transfer sessions to ensure user adoption of new database systems; • Collaborate with program users to ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the migration process.
