Database Engineer
to join our Operations team. This role involves supporting federal government operations in managing multiple database platforms in a cloud-enabled DevOps environment.
Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle databases. Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and database structures to ensure efficient operations. Perform database capacity planning and implement scalable solutions to match growth trends. Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and audit procedures. Execute database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. Manage database users and database roles across multiple cloud environments, Deploy and manage databases in AWS and Azure cloud environments (RDS, Aurora, EC2, DynamoDB). Integrate database operations with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows to streamline database management. Support containerized database deployments and orchestration using modern DevOps tools. Monitor system health using database management tools and respond to database alerts. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in production and test environments. Document database architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of database administration experience managing one of the following platforms: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle. Strong hands-on experience with AWS core database services (EC2, RDS, Aurora). Demonstrated experience working in a DevOps or Agile development environment. Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence. Strong proficiency in SQL and database query optimization. Experience with database monitoring and performance analysis tools. Commitment to maintaining data security and adaptability to meet rapidly changing
Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tools. Experience working on federal government contracts. Familiarity with federal security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP). Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes). Familiarity with RDBMS and cloud-native database solutions.
