Primary Purpose

Administer and operate the district's central administrative computer networks. Develop, maintain, and monitor all district local area networks (LAN), wireless local area networks (WLAN), and wide area networks (WAN). Responsible for installation, testing, and oversight of all network hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment.

Oversee and manage ticketing, IT staff and processes for all district staff to resolve problems relating to computer- and communications-related services. Responsible for phone support, technology issue evaluation, and distribution of technology-related work orders.

Perform installation and maintenance on computer equipment and software applications throughout the district. Support technology use by providing training on hardware and software as required.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems, or equivalent experience in network administration • Novell Certified Network Engineer (CNE) (include if applicable) • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) (include if applicable) • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) (include if applicable)

Special Knowledge/Skills • Broad Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications. • Knowledge of various operating systems. • Knowledge of software used in education industry, word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc. • Knowledge of computer workstation setup and installation. • Ability to detect and resolve technical or technology related problems. • Ability to provide one or one, or group training to support technology users. Excellent organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills.

Experience

10+ years work experience installing, maintaining, repairing and supporting computer hardware, software and peripherals

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Network Management Oversee the installation and testing of network hardware, software, and upgrades, and identify and resolve issues. Implement and maintain all system configurations and ensure that system maintenance is performed. Monitor and analyze system utilization; recommend improvements as needed. Technical Support

Serve as liaison to software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support. Develop and maintain network design and configuration documentation. Consult with end users to identify need, analyze systems specifications, and correct related problems. Process and prioritize technology related work orders. Evaluate costs and make recommendations on technology related repairs. Arrange for contract repairs for work that cannot be performed by district staff. Work cooperatively with end-users to detect and resolve hardware / software issues. Communicate with software and hardware vendors to resolve end-user problems. Communicate with Network Administrator to detect and resolve end-user problems with internally developed applications and database management. Safety

Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Equipment Repair and Maintenance

Diagnose and repair equipment, including computers and peripherals. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including computers and peripherals. Maintain accurate updated records of work performed, materials used, and time required to perform repairs and maintenance. Installation

Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed. Install and configure software as needed. Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of network equipment. Other

Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the networking needs of the district. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. Other duties as assigned.
