About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to serve as its chief executive, working in close partnership with the Artistic Director to lead the organization in advancing its mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the strategic plan, guiding day-to-day operations, and ensuring that the organization's infrastructure and staffing align with long-term goals. This role requires a values-driven and pragmatic leader with a strong foundation in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and equity-centered organizational development. The Executive Director will also be the chief fundraiser and external ambassador, leading efforts to grow contributed revenue, steward donor relationships, and elevate the organization's visibility and influence. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include strategic leadership, organizational vision, fundraising, external relations, operational and financial management, community engagement, and partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a background in music, a commitment to creative youth development, and a deep belief in the transformative role of arts and education. They should be skilled in communication, relationship building, and have a high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and organizational awareness. The role demands a leader who can manage multi-faceted priorities, build systems, and lead through periods of growth and change, while fostering trust and authentic collaboration across a diverse community. A bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for a background in music, and senior management experience in music or arts administration is essential.
