About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead the revitalization and expansion of a historic performing arts venue. The successful candidate will be a strategic, visionary, and entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record in fundraising and organizational management. This role is pivotal in stewarding the beloved venue and shaping a broader initiative to support music education and community development. The Executive Director will be responsible for guiding the theater through a transformational phase, ensuring its long-term prosperity, and fully activating the venue to realize its potential as a cultural hub. Key responsibilities include leading the theater's operations, expanding its program offerings, and launching a Community Engagement & Partnerships initiative. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts, deep familiarity with Maine or a strong desire to build ties in the state, and exceptional interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships with the community, board, and staff. Candidates for the Executive Director position should be proven leaders in arts and entertainment management, with a strong background in fundraising and a collaborative approach to team building. An entrepreneurial mindset, a commitment to innovation, and experience in mission-driven settings are essential. The role requires a candidate who is both visionary and pragmatic, capable of operating strategically and tactically to achieve the organization's goals. A passion for music and the performing arts, as well as experience in music education or community-based arts programming, is highly desirable. The Executive Director will also play a key role in shaping the company's broader initiative in Maine, including developing partnerships with schools and community organizations, pursuing grant funding, and identifying opportunities for investment and impact.
