Primary Purpose:
Perform casework service to help young children and their families. Ensure families build relationships creating a foundation for positive parental and child health and increase school readiness outcomes. The Parent Partnership Specialist reports to the Family, Parenting and Pregnancy Outreach Coordinator.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, child or human development or related field. 2 years' experience working with children and families preferred Bilingual preferred Communicates effectively with diverse populations Demonstrates knowledge of child development Valid Driver's License Personal vehicle for transportation to homes and assigned campuses Major Responsibilities and Duties: Performs casework services with parents to increase the parents' understanding and participation in their child's development. Adequately prepares for personal home visits, which include reading appropriate parent educator resources, printing relevant handouts, and gathering materials for parent-child activities. Maintains a caseload of families as determined by program needs, conducting personal visits with each enrolled family on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, and completing a developmental/health/vision/hearing screening and family-centered assessment within the first 90 days after enrollment and at least annually thereafter for each enrolled family. Clearly documents details of each visit, assessment, screening, follow-up resources, etc. on forms and enter data systems. Provides crisis support to parents Coordinates and integrates family and community resources and refers children and parents to community resources where appropriate. Conducts screenings and other related assessments. Participates and assists parents in the interpretation of assessment data, goal setting for school readiness and parental growth. Establishes a supportive and compassionate relationship with children and families with special needs. Plans and provides monthly parent group connections focusing on a minimum of one of the following areas of emphasis: parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, or family well-being. Documents group connection activities and outcomes on appropriate forms. Develops and maintains effective individual and group relationships with parents, community participants and grant stakeholders. Develops and coordinates a continuing evaluation of program services and makes changes based on the findings. Coordinates with other district programs to support transition into preschool or kindergarten. Assists with program recruitment efforts district wide including developing materials and displays, speaking with school and community members and participating in community events. Conducts parent involvement activities as assigned and supervised by the Parents as Teachers Supervisor. Demonstrates cultural competence in interactions with others
