As the Manager of Laboratory Medicine, you will oversee the Hematology Lab and play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with successful clinical internship completion, or a Bachelor's degree in an applied science (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required (Preferred):
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), or equivalent agency. Specialty certification preferred (e.g., Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician). Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical laboratory. Supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred. In-depth knowledge of accrediting agency requirements, including The Joint Commission and College of American Pathologists. Knowledge and Skills:
Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership qualities. Proficiency in laboratory procedures, including those of a Medical Technologist II. Essential Responsibilities/Duties:
Leadership:
Manage and lead multiple sub-specialty sections of the Laboratory, including Hematology. Take full responsibility for laboratory staff in your section and their actions. Promote a laboratory environment focused on quality and compliance to ensure patient and employee safety and satisfaction. Provide 24/7 call coverage. Contribute to departmental strategic planning. Maintain equipment and evaluate new equipment and test assays. Foster innovation and collaboration within the department. Fiscal Responsibility:
Manage section budgets, staffing expenses, and capital budgets. Analyze billing codes and support revenue integrity. Monitor and control overtime expenses. Contribute to cost-effective operations, resource optimization, and revenue enhancement. Quality, Compliance, and Safety:
Ensure data collection, analysis, and dissemination for all sections comply with accrediting agencies. Oversee and follow up on safety reports and critical incidents. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. Participate in hospital-wide Quality Assurance Programs. Support technical staff in managing Quality Control and Quality Assurance data. Technical Expertise:
Provide guidance and resolution for technical problems. Evaluate and implement new methodologies and technologies. Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of equipment and instrumentation. Utilize scientific expertise to enhance laboratory services. What We Offer:
