QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications: Clear and valid Texas Driver's License, NON CDL High School Diploma or GED Must be 21 years of age Must pass pre-employment annual State required physical examination Must pass pre-employment drug screening Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting checking prior to starting employment
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses Ability to read and understand documents including policies and procedures manuals Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Computer literacy and telephone etiquette
Experience: 1-year experience working in a dispatch environment and understanding of School Bus Routing concepts (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Dispatch 1. Work under direction of the Transportation Supervisor. 2. Communicate effectively with transportation staff, parents, students and school district staff members. 3. Notify drivers, parents and school personnel of any changes in a student's bus service. 4. Dispatch drivers and vehicles on a daily basis. 5. Monitor and respond to two-way radio communications. 6. Receive, record, and report driver and bus monitor absence calls. 7. Respond to driver requests for assistance and dispatch tow trucks, emergency services, additional equipment as needed and document.
8. Work with Transportation Supervisor to process requests for extracurricular transportation and arrange for drivers and appropriate equipment as needed. 9. Maintain computerized records and files related to the Transportation Department. 10. Maintain confidentiality of all records. 11. Keep both manual and computerized records for the purpose of the efficient operation of the department. 12. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. 13. Perform related duties as assigned.
