ER RN Job Details – Columbus, Ohio
- Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
- Healthcare Setting: Emergency Department Observation Unit
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Central Ohio nursing jobs
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1720
- Patient Age Groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Staffing Ratio: 1:4
ER Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room RN experience
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state nursing license required at submission)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Experience with Epic electronic health records (EHR) preferred
- Community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Ability to provide 2 professional references (at least 1 from a manager, director, or nursing leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions accepted)
- Must comply with Ohio fingerprinting process upon contract acceptance
ER RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department observation unit
- Manage telemetry, dysrhythmia, PCU/stepdown care, and rapid response team utilization
- Administer IV insulin, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drips (including titration), and blood products
- Provide tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen therapy)
- Utilize Epic for accurate patient documentation and record-keeping
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Float within the unit as needed and respond to rapid response calls
