Operating Room RN Job Details

- End Date: December 29, 2025
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 10-hour day shifts (rotating to cover late discharges)
- Call Requirements: Average one weeknight call; 24-hour call Friday night; Sat/Sun every 5th weekend; holiday call coverage (20-minute response time)
- Orientation: 1-2 weeks with preceptor support
- Scrubs: Provided by facility
- Charting System: Meditech EMR
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2660 - $2850
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience (2-5 years preferred; strong candidates with less experience considered)
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications (required for all travel nursing jobs)
- Experience with general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, gynecology, C-sections, and podiatry cases preferred
- Cataract surgery experience is a plus
- Previous travel nurses and experienced RNs encouraged to apply
- Disclosure of all prior employment at any FHN Memorial location required
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in a busy OR environment
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Prepare, assess, and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Accurately document patient care using Meditech electronic medical records
- Participate in department orientation and ongoing clinical education
- Take rotating on-call shifts as scheduled and respond within required timeframe
- Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare setting
