Operating Room RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
• Location: Freeport, IL 61032 (Northwest Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Acute Care – Operating Room (OR)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 10-hour day shifts (rotating to cover late discharges)
• Call Requirements: Average one weeknight call; 24-hour call Friday night; Sat/Sun every 5th weekend; holiday call coverage (20-minute response time)
• Orientation: 1-2 weeks with preceptor support
• Scrubs: Provided by facility
• Charting System: Meditech EMR
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2660 - $2850

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience (2-5 years preferred; strong candidates with less experience considered)
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications (required for all travel nursing jobs)
• Experience with general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, gynecology, C-sections, and podiatry cases preferred
• Cataract surgery experience is a plus
• Previous travel nurses and experienced RNs encouraged to apply
• Disclosure of all prior employment at any FHN Memorial location required

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in a busy OR environment
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Prepare, assess, and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech electronic medical records
• Participate in department orientation and ongoing clinical education
• Take rotating on-call shifts as scheduled and respond within required timeframe
• Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare setting
