Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Covington, Louisiana. The RN provides specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in the NICU, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and adheres to hospital and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns; identify changes and document conditions and responses
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with neonatal nursing techniques
- Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and neonatal screenings
- Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality
- Assist with life-saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures (e.g., umbilical line placement, intubation)
- Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Adhere to infection control measures, PPE use, and sterilization protocols
- Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other team members to optimize outcomes
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Follow hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Required: One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Preferred: Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
