Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Oncology RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Denver, Colorado. The RN will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered cancer care.

Required Qualifications

• One year of recent experience as an Oncology RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
• ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

Summary

The Oncology Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital and clinical settings. This role involves administering cancer treatments, managing side effects, and providing education and emotional support to patients and families. The RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care while adhering to confidentiality, integrity, and safety standards.

Essential Work Functions

• Educate patients and families about oncology procedures and treatments, addressing concerns to alleviate apprehension
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to oncology nursing techniques
• Prepare and maintain oncology-specific equipment, assisting oncologists during treatment and examinations
• Monitor patients for comfort, safety, and side effects; implement interventions to improve quality of life
• Assess and monitor patient conditions; document changes and responses
• Maintain thorough documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes
• Respond to life-saving situations following oncology standards, policies, and procedures
• Develop individualized education plans for patients and families regarding treatment regimens and self-care
• Participate in oncology quality improvement initiatives
• Advocate for patients and assist with navigating complex treatment plans
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills
• Physical abilities to stay stationary and move equipment as needed
