About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our accounting team. In this role, you'll take ownership of remittance workflows, application processing, and general accounting tasks. This Bookkeeper position is perfect for someone with a strong foundation in AP/AR, journal entries, and reconciliations who thrives in a structured, deadline-driven environment. As a Bookkeeper, you'll work closely with state boards and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness while maintaining high standards of professionalism and precision.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper, you will: Process and Review Applications:
Verify system data for accuracy (date of birth, address, application details) and route applications to the correct state based on requirements.
Manage AP/AR:
Process payments after state approvals, reconcile accounts, and ensure proper coding.
Prepare Journal Entries:
Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in alignment with accounting standards.
Weekly Reporting:
Compile and submit a comprehensive workbook of state applications every Friday.
Compliance:
Remove unqualified candidates from the system and coordinate approvals with state boards.
Professional Communication:
Handle extensive email correspondence with both internal teams and state boards.
High-Volume Workflows:
Maintain accuracy and timeliness during seasonal peaks.
Data Entry:
Perform detailed manual data entry and copy-paste tasks in Excel.
Minimum Requirements for the Bookkeeper Role
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, managing large datasets).
Bookkeeping Certificate or Associate's in Accounting strongly preferred.
2+ years of general accounting experience.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong written communication and customer service skills.
Ability to follow established processes and work independently.
Consistent Friday availability.
