JOB SUMMARY
This role supports operational functions by providing technical guidance, assisting with improvements, and contributing to departmental projects to achieve both departmental and corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Cover floor operations in the absence of the supervisor and communicate the status of operations to shift supervision
- Engage in problem solving and performance management within the business area
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining workflow in the department
- Provide training for new personnel or as required
- Maintain a high-quality work environment by sharing knowledge and motivating team members
- Keep the supervisor informed of potential and existing concerns
- Lead by example by meeting or exceeding performance expectations, ensuring job accuracy, following safety guidelines, and complying with company and regulatory requirements
- Participate in and support process improvement projects, including test cycles to improve efficiency, customer service, and compliance
- Troubleshoot departmental issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop preventive solutions
- Demonstrate working knowledge of department operating systems
- Maintain orders, work areas, and stock locations in a safe, clean, and organized manner
- Report unsafe or potentially unsafe hazards to management
- Perform miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned
- Ensure exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or another scientific discipline
- – 1–2 years of production experience preferred
- OR
- Associate degree with 5+ years of large-scale chemical manufacturing experience
- 2–3 years of experience working in a similar environment preferred
- 1+ year of production experience
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Logical approach to problem-solving and team building
- Experience with customer interaction
- Knowledge of process improvement methodology (PDSA, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)
- Ability to operate industrial equipment (reactor systems, centrifuges, dryers, ion exchange columns, DCS systems)
- Proficiency in SAP, Word, Excel, and Access is a plus
- Knowledge of product flow throughout the manufacturing process
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing
- Strong teamwork skills and adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills with the ability to work in diverse teams
- Experience leading or coaching others in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications (preferred but not mandatory)
