The Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hillcrest Hospital is dedicated to delivering the highest quality, family-centered care to ill neonates and extremely low birth weight infants. This team provides 24-hour neonatology services, evidence-based nursing practice and advanced respiratory care, such as high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide. As an RN, you serve as an essential support person in the NICU. In this role, you will interact directly with babies, their families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance the treatment experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

A caregiver in this position works night shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. + on-call with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year experience in an acute care hospital setting OR Licensed military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross within one year of employment

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
