UHNBC (University Hospital of Northern British Columbia) in Prince George is seeking a full-time General Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Prince George, the northern hub for business, education, health, and culture in BC, serves a population of approximately 87,000. The city is surrounded by lakes, rivers, and mountains, offering year-round recreation such as biking, hiking, boating, kayaking, and winter sports with over 41 ft of snow. UHNBC is the primary referral center for Northern British Columbia, serving around 400,000 residents over a vast geographic area. The OB/GYN department currently has 7 members sharing 5 full-time positions, with plans to expand to 8. The on-call requirement is a minimum of four 24-hour calls per month for a 1.0 FTE position, scaled for part-time roles. Resources like OR and ambulatory care time are shared equitably based on FTE and patient needs. The work involves a balanced mix of obstetrics and gynecology. Members collaborate with family physicians and midwives providing primary obstetrical care. UHNBC handles approximately 1200 deliveries annually and has a level IIB NICU supporting babies as early as 30 weeks gestation. UHNBC is the main teaching hospital for the UBC Northern Medical Program, hosting medical students and family medicine residents year-round. UBC residents in various specialties also rotate through, including a senior OB/Gyn resident for 6 months. The BC Cancer Agency, Centre for the North, offers radiation and medical oncology services onsite. Benefits include negotiable vacation leave, potential additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) such as a 12.6% retention premium, a flat fee of $19,526, relocation funding ($9,000-$15,000), and a recruitment incentive of $15,000. Additional benefits/incentives totaling $15,000 are available, with specific amounts for those relocating from outside or within Canada.
