Join Our Team as an Assembler Welder Tester at Epiroc!

Role Perform all required welding and final testing on completed drilling rigs following standards outlined in the “test book” and within company safety guidelines.

Work Type Onsite

Shift Timings Monday – Friday from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Principal Responsibilities

  • Receive assembled drilling rig from shop floor
  • Check fabrication and assembly for overall appearance
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders to complete any remaining assembly, change over, or modification duties
  • Operate rig for all capacity, function and other tests for the particular model
  • Responsible for all necessary modifications to machines
  • Set pressures and operate machines
  • Perform general welding and repair of fabrications
  • Make any corrections that may be required
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems; resolve and report to immediate Supervisor
  • Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to immediate Supervisor
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations / guidelines
  • Perform other duties as required or directed

Occasional Job Duties

  • Train new hires
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for rejected parts
  • Return leftover parts to Warehouse or stock area

Education & Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Required to read, write and comprehend English
  • Use and comprehend specifications, blueprints, and schematics
  • Knowledge of all mechanical components on the rig and their ideal operation
  • Overall knowledge of assembly, weld process and rig operation
  • Familiar with handling welding tools
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting principles

The training period for this position

Production test training and work in the production test for at least 60 days, and test a minimum of 6 rigs up to a maximum of 10. After completion of rig testing, the employee will complete a test that will be audited by a Quality Control representative.

Prior Positions/Training

  • Two years minimum as a welder (pass Welder certification)
  • Must have training in reading blueprints and electrical, hydraulic schematics

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT

Moderate physical demand in handling materials and tools while performing assembly and related operations. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Work also involves climbing up to 4-6 feet using ladders.
