Overview
The Strength and Conditioning Coach (Winter) will organize, direct, coordinate and supervise student-athletes. This position includes developing sport-specific training programs for out-of-season student-athletes and collaborating with coaches, athletic staff, and families to support student-athlete development.
Responsibilities
- Develop sport-specific training programs for out-of-season student-athletes.
- Organize and facilitate proper warm-up, workout, and cool-down to ensure safety and performance improvements through developmentally appropriate training.
- Apply knowledge of exercise physiology, periodization, and program implementation.
- Educate athletes on proper nutrition and recovery.
- Organize resistance training seminars for middle school coaches to ensure younger athletes are trained for injury prevention and performance enhancement (1 per season).
- Teach developmentally appropriate exercises to each team based on sport demands.
- Attend team meetings to emphasize the importance of off-season training.
- Meet with each head coach to assist with sport-specific programming needs.
- Communicate with the Assistant Athletic Director and Associate Principal on facilities, equipment, scheduling and transportation.
- Recruit and retain athletes to participate in the strength and conditioning program.
- Provide a safe atmosphere for all athletes.
- Communicate with all stakeholders in the athletic program to meet the needs of each student athlete.
- Build positive rapport with students and families.
- Help organize equipment, purchase orders, storage and inventory.
- Provide support and feedback for overall student-athlete development.
