Overview
Vice President-General Counsel & Secretary role at GE Appliances, a Haier company. Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the VP, General Counsel & Secretary serves as the principal legal officer of GE Appliances. The VP, General Counsel is a member of the senior leadership team and strategic advisor to the CEO, Executive Council, and Board of Directors. This leader has overall responsibility for the vision, strategy, and delivery of the company’s global legal services, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management functions. The VP, General Counsel ensures that business goals are achieved within a strong ethical, legal, and regulatory framework, while advancing GE Appliances’ mission to “make good things, for life.”

Responsibilities
- Serve as chief legal advisor to the CEO, Executive Council, and Board of Directors.
- Provide strategic counsel on corporate governance, compliance, enterprise risk, litigation, M&A, financing, labor and employment, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory issues.
- Ensure legal perspectives are embedded in strategic planning, operations, and decision-making.
- Serve as GE Appliances Chief Compliance Officer.
- Oversee corporate governance matters, including Board and committee support, fiduciary duties, ethics, and reporting.
- Lead enterprise-wide legal risk assessment and mitigation frameworks, ensuring compliance with U.S. and global regulatory requirements.
- Manage litigation, disputes, and investigations to protect the company’s assets, brand, and reputation.
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing, business-focused legal team.
- Select and manage outside counsel and expert advisors effectively and cost-efficiently.
- Collaborate across functions—including Finance, HR, IT, Compliance, and Government Relations—to ensure comprehensive risk and legal coverage.
- Oversee policies and practices to safeguard intellectual property, trade, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
- Champion GE Appliances’ values and culture by embedding integrity, compliance, and transparency into daily operations.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and inclusion within the legal team and across the enterprise.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar; eligible for admission in Kentucky.
Experience
- At least 15 years of broad-based global corporate legal experience, including top law firm training.
- Substantial in-house experience required; prior General Counsel or Deputy GC experience strongly preferred.
- Proven expertise in global corporate governance, complex commercial transactions, M&A, litigation management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience advising Boards of Directors and senior leadership of global, consumer-facing, or manufacturing organizations a clear advantage.
