Production Assistant Job at The Argo in Milwaukee
The Argo, Milwaukee, WI, United States, 53244
Overview
The Argo is a brand-new 750-cap venue, bar, kitchen, and event space opening inside the historic Fox Bay Theater. We’re here to host unforgettable shows and events, and we’re building a production team that can deliver pro-level experiences from Day One.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, highly organized Production Assistant to lead all things production as we launch. This is not a background support role — you’ll be the main production point of contact during opening months, working directly with the GM/Owner and contracted tech crew to get shows up and running. You’ll help build our production systems from the ground up, coordinate advancing, oversee crew calls, manage load-in/load-out, and keep the gear in check. As the venue grows, there may be an opportunity to move into a full Production Manager role — but for now, we need a rock-solid lead who can wear many hats and keep the trains running.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-of-show production operations (load-in, tech check, FOH/monitor setup, show flow, load-out)
- Act as liaison between venue, artists, tour crews, and rental clients
- Oversee production crew scheduling, arrival, and task delegation
- Maintain clear communication with GM/Owner before, during, and after events
- Help advance shows and rentals: tech riders, power/stage needs, timelines
- Track incoming production info and update calendars/crew notes accordingly
- Coordinate with vendors (AVL, lighting, backline, rigging, etc.) when needed
Gear & Venue Readiness
- Assist with AV setup, maintenance, and patching
- Keep production areas clean, organized, and gig-ready
- Track basic inventory and flag gear needs or repairs
Safety & Team Culture
- Enforce safety procedures and set a calm, professional tone on show days
- Support a team-first mindset among stagehands, techs, and vendors
Who You Are
- 2+ years of experience in venue production, touring, or stage crew
- Comfortable being the go-to person on show days — and communicating up the chain
- Proficient in audio/video basics (don’t need to be an engineer, but need to speak the language)
- Hyper-organized and cool under pressure
- Good with spreadsheets, Google Docs, calendars, and radios
- Willing to hustle on weekends, evenings, and sometimes weird hours
- Be part of The Argo from Day One — with room to grow as the team builds out
- Exposure to national tours, private clients, and local legends
- Work with a passionate, experienced team who care about good shows and great people
