Overview
Certified Welding Inspector/NDE (Part-Time) - Phoenix, AZ role at Bureau Veritas North America. The inspector is responsible for quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client, and for on-site inspections during the construction phase. The ideal candidate must have demonstrable experience in a similar position.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with Project Managers to determine the specific requirements of a given work order, including scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, fabrication shops, contractors, BV employees, and other third parties to resolve issues.
- Ensure services are performed in accordance with project requirements and the client contract.
- Prepare, process, and respond to timesheets, billing reports, expense reports, emails, reports, and inspection documents; submit reports in a timely, typewritten format using Microsoft Word/Adobe Acrobat to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate travel logistics and expenses for 1-2 weeks of field assignments (lodging, meals, flights, rental cars, parking, etc.).
- Maintain positive relationships between Bureau Veritas, fabrication facilities, and clients.
- Ability to work remotely, on-site, or from established Bureau Veritas offices/work sites.
- Demonstrate client-focused service, attention to detail, and ability to read and interpret complex designs and fabrication plans.
- Maintain excellent communication and documentation with Project Managers, clients, BV staff, and fabrication facilities.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Teams, Calendar) and knowledge of Adobe Acrobat; document control software as needed.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments without compromising quality.
- Team player mindset; collaborate with clients, field staff, and BV offices globally.
- Appropriate use of PPE; identify situations requiring additional PPE beyond standard issue.
- Capture photos with a camera and insert images into client reports when required.
Qualifications
- Current AWS CWI Certification Required
- NDT Level II – UT, PT, MT Required
- UT Shearwave or Phased Array UT is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods.
- Occasional movement inside the workspace to access required areas.
- Operate a computer and other productivity equipment; use of smartphone/tablet as needed.
- Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs; ability to access elevated or lowered work spaces.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and observe details at close range.
Compensation and Location
Hourly Rate: $35-$45
Specific Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
