Overview

Job Title: Night Stocker

Department: Grocery

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $18.75/hr

Responsibilities

• Unloads product, opens containers, stocks shelves, and rotates product where necessary.
• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting care and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, and addresses them by name when possible.
• Escorts customers to products, helps with items out of reach, loads or unloads heavy items, and notes customer suggestions or requests to improve the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Unloads trucks, opens containers, stocks shelves, moves overstock from risers, and rotates product.
• Monitors miss-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries.
• Organizes stock for efficiency, cleans and restocks damaged items.
• Tags shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
• Reports all new or different items for input into the scanning system.
• Maintains adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Adheres to company policies and store guidelines.
• Reports to work as scheduled, on time, and works the scheduled number of hours.

Secondary Duties

• Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization; interpret instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; provide identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.

Education and Experience

High school or equivalent experience. Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to perform very heavy work, including exerting over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Visual requirements include a range of vision and depth/color perception.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Position is exposed to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and chemicals/solvents daily. Occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock.

Equipment Used

Power jack, compactor, order machine, check register, forklift, scales, and Tomra machines.

Financial Responsibility

Responsible for supplies, stock, and checking the cooler.

Contacts

Daily contact with community or trade/professional organizations, suppliers/vendors, and customers.
