Role Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for all aspects of operations at The Goodwin Hotel. The GM should be an ambassador for the brand and hotel, consistently providing strong leadership and strategic planning to all the hotel’s departments in support of our service culture. The GM is also expected to manage both profitability and guest satisfaction. The GM reports directly to the Director of Hospitality at RMS Companies.

The GM is also expected to manage both profitability and guest satisfaction. The GM reports directly to the Director of Hospitality at RMS Companies.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee all operational functions of the hotel, including but not limited to guest service, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Review and monitor staff performance in all areas of the hotel to ensure that standards are being met, staff has the proper support, and guest needs are being met.
- Build a team and hotel culture consistently focused on providing exceptional guest service and enhancing team morale.
- Ensure full compliance with hotel operating policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Ensure clear communication and follow-up on any issues, requests, or special requirements from guests or employees.
- Prepare annual hotel operating budget and assures that financial goals are met or exceeded. Monitors and controls labor and supplies/equipment expenses.
- Work closely with the hotel’s sales and revenue management team to maximize rate, occupancy, and total revenue.
- Oversee procurement of operating supplies and equipment, contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services at the hotel when needed.
- Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads daily.
- Manage and develop the hotel’s management team to ensure development and career progression.
- Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction, and wellbeing of both hotel guests and employees.
- At least 5 years of experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager in a hotel preferred.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a strong passion for hospitality.
- Available to work when needed to service the hotel and its guests, including weekends, holidays, and nights if necessary.
- A university degree in hotel management or a related field with experience in opening or re-positioning a hotel a plus.
- A strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies.
